I had a trip with Luis Eslava @luiseslavastudio to Tabriz in 2018 in the search for inspiration to create a new collection. It was a surprise how he turned his interpretation of silence into a design weeks later. This is part of what we decided to publish in our catalogue for the collection:

'We city peddlers were surprised by the quietness in the home, the calm in the villages and the profound silence in the workshops. The omnipresent silence grasped our attention, the silence and the rhythmic and steady movement of the weavers. Sitting in a simply crossed leg posture, an ephemeral dance right to left, left to right guided the dorsal spines whose hands were flying through the warp. Azari weavers at ease, keeping themselves to their thoughts in a meditative attitude, concentrated on their execution of the design.'

However, to me, there was something else beyond the pattern. Luis was right in his discovery of the phenomenon, and it was there; "Absence of Words, Absence of Sound, This is the Beauty of Silence", but there was something far deeper beyond the mesmerising "lack of the sound".

The Azerbaijan Silence rugs indeed provoke emotions. Everyone can interpret the "untold" differently, and isn't that what art should be?
An interpretation by @theruggist was the most interesting.
"Silence 'Azerbaijan' is transcendent work... (Please read it here: https://theruggist.com/2018/02/silence-nasser-nishaburi.html)"

As I look at the "Silence rugs" on display in my showroom today, I hear the untold stories behind them, so loud and so clear...
